Meltdown
Today I nearly had a meltdown. No, make that multiple meltdowns. And all because nobody wants to let me swim in their pool. I'm like a little pool vagrant. I go from pool to pool begging them to let me in. "All I want to do is swim" I plead, but to no avail. Today, I could not swim.
But I did waste about 3 hours driving around looking for a place to swim. Just what everyone wants to do on their day off from work. Drive around looking for water to swim in! By the end, I was ready to swim in my bathtub. Or the puddle outside. BUT I pulled myself together. It WILL be okay.
Instead, I rode my bike. And it was a very nice ride. I also did a track workout this morning (this WAS planned already) and it too was good. Very hard, but good. At the end of the last interval I laid in a heap of tiredness on the infield grass and a very nice, little, old lady who had been walking around the track stopped to ask me if I was okay. Hmm...I thought...I must look as bad as I feel! :) The track is brutal if you haven't been there for a while! But I'm always so glad to get back there and bust off all the rust and take in the huge gains in fitness that the track has to offer.
So that was my day. I rearranged my workouts such that the missed swim will be done later in the week. I refuse to miss a swim just because my pool is closed! And I have now secured a place to swim Thursday, Friday AND Saturday. I will rejoice greatly when my YMCA pool is finally open again.
In other news, today is my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. That's a LONG time! Happy anniversary mom and dad!

Oh yea, love that perserverance - or craziness, depending on how you look at it! HA! By the way, that pic of you below on your bike- we need to SASS up your basement - we need some paint, some inspiring pictures and some COLOR down there...let's get on that before winter doldrums and as we train for CA 70.3! :) Jen H.

That's too bad about the pool. A similar thing has happened to me during swim meets. Now I always know the pool schedules ahead of time because I am paraniod and don't want to drive around wasting time.
At least you have secured a place to swim for the next few days and then you can celebrate when regular pool opens again!

The same thing happened to me (two weeks before my final race of the year). I swear EVERY YMCA had their yearly maintenance scheduled the same week. Could they have planned it where one closed one week and another closed the next week? Hmmmmm...... Katie (from Spencer Smith camp)
