Where to Begin?!

I have a plethora of topics to discuss tonight. See, this is what happens. I won't have anything to write about on my blog for days and then in one night I have about 20 things I want to write. But instead of saving them up for when I don't have anything to write, I'm just going to throw them all at you right now! AHHH!!

First of all, I want to say that I can't hide it anymore. I'm jealous. Jealous of all those people that are training in San Diego, Tucson, Australia, South Carolina, Florida and other sunny places where there are fast and fun people to train with. It's not so much the nice weather that I'm jealous of (especially now that I've been able to ride outside TWICE in the past week) but more the camraderie of having really neat, talented, positive, driven people to train with. So I'm making a case for all you neat, talented, positive, driven people to invite ME to train with you next time you go somewhere warm to train hard.

1) I'm an okay runner and a pretty good cyclist so I won't hold you back too much and you won't have to wait for me on rides and runs or worry about me getting lost. If you do drop me, I'm excellent with directions so I can find my own way home (okay, that's a big lie).
2) My swimming leaves something to be desired but just think about how good you'll feel about your own swimming when you lap me multiple times. Plus, I have yet to get lost in a pool (I know, give it some time...) so even if I am way slower in the water I still won't hold you back.
3) I don't take up much space and I'm really neat.
4) I don't eat that much (okay, another big lie). I do mostly eat peanut butter though and I'll bring my own supply because peanut butter travels very well.
5) I'm generally clean and don't smell horribly.
6) I hardly talk at all so I won't give you a headache.
7) The only thing I absolutely require is internet access but if the trip is less than 4 or 5 days I can probably survive without it.
8) I can sleep anywhere, no bed or couch required.
9) I can put my own bike together and I might be able to help you with yours (but don't count on it).
10) I don't complain (much).

So what do you think? Any takers? :) Of course I'm kidding (okay, yet another big lie)....

ANYWAY, in other news I'm very excited to announce I received a package today! When I was on my way home from work to the YMCA this afternoon I thought I spotted a package sitting on our front door step (I practically drive right past our house to get to the Y) but I was good and kept driving. Of course upon arriving home from the Y I raced to the door to find that there really was a package! YIPPPPEEEE!!

And it was a good one! An Easter package from my parents:

At first I was really scared it was all chocolate goodies as I wasn't sure how I was going to resist (if you recall I gave up chocolate for Lent) for another whole week. But luckily it contained lots of other goodies besides some yummy chocolates - pears, apples, and mixed nuts!

Thanks mom and dad!

Next on the topic list is some very good swimming news. O has been talking just about everyone at his school into doing a small sprint triathlon in our area in July. Of course the swimming coach was a prime candidate. I met this swim coach (he's actually the assistant coach I think) at the swim race I did back in early February. Anyway, he has already done a few triathlons and obviously has the swim part down but wanted some help with his running. Running is something I know how to do so O offered my help (which of course I'd be thrilled to give). They were talking about this again today in school and the swim coach invited me (via O of course) to their masters practice which...get this...is in an OUTDOOR LCM POOL!?! How awesome is that! Of course they won't be starting until May (given the whole outdoor thing) and it does start pretty early (5:15 am and I'd have about a 45 min drive there) but I was totally thrilled with the idea. Especially given the fact that my current masters team is going to get kicked out of the Pitt pool soon for pretty much the entire summer since they are re-doing the whole pool. How about that for timing?! Very, very exciting!

And finally, I leave you with this, a little video sent to me by my sister. Please check it out. It is SOOOOO awesome!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Beth, I totally hear you on the warm weather training camp longing! I get so envious of people who have people to train with. And I can't even make as good a case for myself as you can because I'm missing reason #1.
Glad you got a fun package and that's incredible that you'll be swimming long course OUTDOOR meters this summer!

Well, training with me is probably NOT QUITE (at all?) what you're looking for with your training, but you're always welcome at Yellowstone. You can run and bike to your heart's content, at elevation(!). And, remember to bring a dry suit (seriously) if you want to swim in any of our lakes (We don't even have pools.). ;)

Oh your package looks so yummy especially the pears! MMMMMnn, good! I got a package in the mail today, too. A new bike seat, yippee! I should post a picture of my old one because, well, I let it get really worn out because bike seats are danged expensive.

Happy weekend, Beth!

And you still do well in tris when you have to pull over the side and barf midway through your run!!!

Ooooh, outdoors pool. You'll have to get some metallic goggles! I have to confess that last month I was envious of all the warm-weather training people and thought it woudl be great to go somewhere warm to train. Now, I am just so "over" winter that I want to go somewhere warm to not train and just veg out!
Oh, I had a boyfriend in highschool (boarding school) who was a member of the Fruit of the Month Club. Pears was my favorite month. I think I kept on dating him longer that I really wanted to just because I wanted to know what beautiful fruit was coming next!

Beth,
You KNOW I already invited you to HTFU camp #2 - you are IN, my friend. Trust me ... Training w/ Spencer and Jerome - literally killing me - I will blog about it in a few. Jerome and I are looking at condos down here (2nd place), so if we buy one, I am doing a mini=training weekend away...and you are INVITED...no worries! :)

well, Rome's climate will seem tropical after your winter... If you and O are in the neighborhood you'd be welcome to train here. Few people consider that Rome actually is a beach town (13 miles from downtown) and that there is a lot of beach... not to mention swimmable lakes and swimming pools in the vicinity...plus roads and parks to ride and run... you would be amazed...
