To Grandma's House We Go

beth%20shoes.JPG

Me, happily pedaling away this morning on the trainer.

Well, our nice weather from Thursday didn't really stick around too long. This morning it was in the 30s and raining, which turned to a "wintery mix" which turned to snow. And now the windchill outside is 8. But it was nice while it lasted and that one outdoor ride on Thursday should be good to hold me over for at least a few more weeks.

Plus, yesterday after work I headed to the bike shop to work a little on my bike fit (my left leg was feeling funny), get new (different) pedals, and get the new cleats put on my new cycling shoes (that I got a while back but haven't worn yet). All this means that a nice long trainer ride this morning gave me the perfect opportunity to pay attention to how all these changes felt! And they felt good!

Off the bike it was off on a run and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. I think that run was truly the only 30 minutes in the day when it wasn't raining/icing/snowing. It was windy but at least we didn't get wet!

And then finally to the pool where...oh you won't believe it...I actually did flip turns for the WHOLE ENTIRE workout including the main set! I got brave because the main set was just 200s and I felt like I could handle flip turns for that short of an interval. I will admit to wanting to change over to open turns after about the first 3 200s but I forced myself to stick with the flip turns. And it wasn't so bad! I'm still alive and for once my flip turns didn't slow me down. At the very least they were as fast as my open turns. :)

But by far the best part of the day was going to visit my grandparents. We arrived just in time for some of my grandma's amazing cooking - dinner of mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, gravy, corn, rolls. It was the best! And tomorrow is my grandfather's 80th birthday so of course there was cake too! After dinner we sat around and talked about any and everything for quite some time before, sadly O and I had to head home. The roads weren't too good on the ride back but we made it. Not that Roxy and I would know as we were both sleeping on the ride home while poor O had to do all the driving!

But alas - time for bed! Don't forget to set your clocks forward! Painful to lose an hour of sleep now but just think how much lighter it will be in the evenings now! Spring really is almost here!

You are a flipturn QUEEN! Glad that your leg is feeling better after bike fit issues. Hee hee hee, I'm glad that you take your dog everywhere with you too! Molly only stays home on the hottest and coldest days of the year. Otherwise she is the BEST backseat driver. Rainy, slushy, snowy here, but I did see just the tiniest bit of fresh green stalk on some tiger lillies the other day, so Spring is coming.
