Super Sunday
We've been having quite a super Sunday!
O, Roxy and I started things off this morning with our long run for the week. It was in the low 20s but actually felt quite nice because there was no wind and...get this...it was SUNNY! Doesn't happen often around here so when it does, we all take notice.
Next up was church where we sang one of my favorite hymns. I'm not a big hymn person. I like a lot of Christian music, but mostly contemporary stuff that...well..isn't so "old". But there are certain hymns that I love. Silent Night on Christmas Eve when the lights are turned off and it's just the flicker of candlelight. Here I Am, Lord - a song I first heard my freshman year at Penn State and to this day can still bring tears to my eyes. As The Deer, another one that I really like. And then this morning, It Is Well With My Soul.
I really only knew the first verse of this one - and the famous line:
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
But this morning the third verse caught my attention. As our pastor always says, God will meet you right where you are at. And this is where He met me this morning:
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
It's always a humbling thing to think of my sin nailed to His cross. Powerful and very, very humbling.
Regardless, after church we ate lunch (the other half of my dinner last night from the Cheesecake Factory but unfortunately all the cheesecake was gone... :) and then a 2 hour nap. Yep - a TWO hour nap! I always feel a little groggy when I get up from a nap that long but once I wake up I feel great. And today was no exception.
After that (in no particular order) we cleaned the house, I got on my bike for a nice, easy spin and we ate dinner. And of course now we are watching the Super Bowl. It's been a great game so far - close and exciting!

Oh my gosh! I sing "as the deer" to Kainoa before bed every night... or "this is the air I breathe".
Sometimes I feel like I am the only one of my friends that like those songs so I love when you post about your relationship with God!
