Nothing Much to Say

I don't have anything much to say tonight (interesting or otherwise) so I wasn't going to post a blog entry but quite frankly I'm a creature of habit and perhaps a little addicted too. So I'll post an entry anyway. Plus I don't want to run the sweeper, which is the other alternative. And just in case you were wondering a sweeper is a vacuum but I've always called it a sweeper and I don't care how weird that sounds.

I thought maybe I could write about our weather with a few more complaints because we got more snow and ice, it's still cold AND I am just going to be plain ANGRY if the roads aren't at least somewhat clear for our race tomrrow.

But I'm sure you're sick of hearing about it and to tell you the truth, I'm a little sick of hearing MYSELF complain about it. You can only complain so much before you're just plain annoying. And I've definitely reached that point. :) So it's time for me to get over it.

And "getting over it" is the 10th and final step of recovery. I'm not sure what the first 9 steps are but it goes a little something like this for me EVERY winter:

1) Oh look! It's cold outside and we get to wear our winter coats and boy does hot chocolate sound so yummy! Yeah winter is here! (sometime in early December)
2) Oh look! Our first snow and boy I hope it lasts until Christmas Day. The snow is so pretty and let's decorate the house for Christmas! (sometime in late December)
3) Oh wow. It's COLD outside! Hey, the trainer isn't so bad - we can watch movies AND train at the same time. How fun! (sometime in early January)
4) Oh wow. Dang is it cold. And I REALLY wish it would stop snowing. I can't believe how many shirts I just wore on my run outside! (sometime in late January)
5) Oh man. It's now been below 10 degrees for 1 full week. I'm sort of sick of my trainer and I've run out of good movies to watch. (sometime in early February)
6) Oh man. This sucks. If I see my trainer again I'm going to throw up and if I have to run in 5 layers again I'm going to hurt someone. (sometime in late February)

And then...sulking and self pity and general unhappiness....

And then finally, I get over it. It's cold. It's snowing and icing. I'm going to run a race tomorrow in 10 layers of clothing. Then I will come home and ride my bike ON THE TRAINER. But it's okay. It will be fine. And it won't be long before I'm only wearing 4 layers during my runs and that very first day when the sun is shining and it's in the 40s and I can ride my bike outside.... Oh...I can ALMOST feel it!! And I can't wait. Because it is going to feel GREAT!

So there we have it! Now it's time to get that sweeper running. And pick out which layers I'm going to wear tomorrow... :) Have a great weekend everyone!

Beth,

Good luck tomorrow! I hope Mother Nature smiles down on you with sun, warmth, and clear roads for racing.

I like your 10 stages, but I think you should have written them all out. I want to hear what you sound like when you're really fired up! :)
