Happy Leap Year!

So did anyone do anything exciting today with their one extra special day that only comes around every 4 years? I didn't really. But a couple of us at work did celebrate by going to a different cafeteria for lunch today. (I work in a HUGE hospital and there about about 5 different places you can eat) I usually bring my lunch but today I treated myself by buying my lunch. Chili and cornbread. YUM! I LOVE me some cornbread!

Regardless, it was around lunch time that I noticed that it was REALLY snowing outside and the roads were starting to look a little sketchy. Fast forward a couple hours later when I was trying to drive home and the roads were REALLY sketchy. It took quite a while to get home and there was one scary period where I didn't think I was going to make it up the big hill to our town. Luckily they weren't allowing cars to go down the hill so I coaxed my car over to the other lane to get some traction on fresh snow and it worked. Needless to say, I am really glad I ran this morning before all this snow started to fall!

I drove directly to the YMCA after work preparing myself for the fact that it might be closed (roads were getting worse and worse) and that I might have to do my lift tomorrow. But I was in luck! Still open and just as I was finishing the last set of my last exercise the manager came around to tell everyone they were going to close in a couple minutes. Perfect timing!

I came home to find one husband shoveling like a mad-man (he later gave up realizing that while it was still coming down so hard, shoveling was a little pointless) and one WILD dog. Roxy's cabin fever continues (although we did bring her on our run this morning). She was hilarious in the snow though. O would throw her a snowball and she would race after it only to be largely confused when she couldn't find her "ball". She scratched through the snow looking for it! :) This ball chasing was interspersed with racing around in the yard, jumping around like a kangaroo and looking generally cute with a snow-beard.

Roxy and June love the same game! Now, I know dogs are intelligent and everything, but they just don't seem to get snowballs. I spend literally hours of the winter throwing disintegrating snowballs for June, and she still hasn't figured it out. Shh, don't tell her, as I'm afraid of having to come up with a new game! Enjoy the snow and safe driving!

The best things about dogs is that they never get tired of the snow--no matter how much we are sick of it--they can still show us the joy in it!!!
I wish I had me some chile and cornbread right now!
