Putting it to the Test
So I had an opportunity to put my new found "I love winter, it will make me stronger" attitude to the test today. Why you ask? Well, because it's still snowing (we're up to maybe 6 or 7 inches now?) and it's still really cold (low 20s with some sort of nasty windchill)! Yeah for winter!
But I made a very smart move this morning. I had both a swim and run on the schedule for today. I did the swim this morning and then made a last minute decision to do the run in the morning before work as well (I usually would have left that for after work). Very good move. When I ran the snow was just restarting and although it was cold with my wet swimming hair (of course I had a hat on!) it was nice and peaceful and the snow was pretty just dusting the roads.
Of course trying to fit both in before work left me not so much on time for work and not so ready for rounds (and add in there the 90 minute commute in as the roads got sloppier and the drivers got dumber and I was REALLY not so on time for work and REALLY not so ready for rounds). Still, worse things have happened.
I was so glad I got both in though because driving home from work the roads were much worse and conditions were quite sloppy. Yeah for no slush in my shoes!
And then I actually got home and walked into the house and I thought "boy, it's quite nippy in here". And I looked at the thermostat and it said 52. What. The. Heck?!?!
I love winter, it will make me stronger!
I finally figure out that the gas company had turned off our gas AGAIN and I had to call them to turn it back on (thankfully, I think this is the last of our gas line leak woes). Poor Roxy - they had turned the gas off around 9 am so she was shivering inside all day!
And so it goes! The furnace has now been running long enough that I'm starting to feel like I can take off my coat and hat. Maybe...
And tomorrow is masters swim and I'm really looking forward to it!

Ugh - I don't know what it is this year, but I'm having a terribly hard time "accepting" winter. Usually I love it; thrive on it - but recently, not so much.
