Masters Swim! Again

I think from now often any mention of masters swim will be connotated as "Masters Swim!" because I really do like it and it's quite a bit better than just "regular swim."

Anyway, I'm getting off topic and I haven't even started yet.

Masters Swim! this morning was delightful. Thursdays the pool is always set up for SCY (boy, look at me, I just used a swimming abbreviation!) and practice is shorter, faster stuff. I'll probably usually go on Thursdays through the year because the short, fast, really hard stuff is when I really need others to push me. Mondays the pool is set up for LCM (I admit, I had to google LCM just to make sure I didn't make it up) and practice is long stuff. I'll probably throw a Monday practice in there every once in a while.

Today's workout was various sets of 75s, one set of which was on a 1 minute interval. That was a rough one for me. I survived but let me just mention that I did not have lots of time to sit around on the wall and chat during that set.

The very last 75 was "all out" which is always fun (if the all out is 100 yds or less of course). My main goal for that one was to try to keep up with Ryan, the guy in the lane next to me that must be at least 7 foot tall. I estimate that I stroke about 6 times for every one of his. It's just no fair for us short people. :)

Regardless, I'm pretty sure he beat me to the wall but it was close at about :52.

In other swimming news I'm sending in my registration form for the 1650 (do swimmers just call that "the mile" like runners would call a 1600 meters on the track "the mile"?) tonight. I'm still not exactly sure what to put for my seed time. Of course I wouldn't be in my best swim shape ever in February so I can't expect some sort of fantastic performance but I'd like to think I might be able to hold 1:25 pace. Still thinking about that one, but I've promised myself it will be in the mailbox tomorrow!

YEA! Send it in! Have fun in the mile :) I hope you can count that far or have a counter... I am horrible with counting out miles or even 1000 repeats!

Hey wait, no fair! Now I can't even understand your blog entries with all the abbreviations. Boo!
