Christmas is Officially on the Way
Why now you ask? Well, you see, while I was scrubbing the kitchen floor tonight I heard The Chipmunk (you know, Alvin, Simon and Theodore) Christmas Song. Love it. Can't get enough of it. My favorite part is when one of the little furballs says "I just want a hoola-hoop". Definitely reminds me of my younger days when my sister and I used to listen to that song over and over again on...get this...the RECORD PLAYER! Now someone in my family can correct me if I'm wrong, but I distinctly remember us having the record of that song. Not the tape or CD or the DVD (or DVR or CEZ or MEUG), but the RECORD. Man, feeling a little old right now.
Anyway, a few other items:
1) HUGE CONGRATS to the Penn State Women's Volleyball Team on their 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! When we got home from the wedding Saturday night O and I watched the match on tv (okay, I fell asleep) and it was just awesome. I was a big volleyball fan in my PSU days. My teammates and I would always go watch their games (along with soccer games and field hockey games and swim meets and...) and then later once O and I started to date we would often go watch them play. They also won a national championship when I was a student there in 1999. Anyway, another reason I'm a big fan is a player by the name of Lauren Cacciamani. She was on that 1999 championship team and also the leader of our Athletes in Action Bible study on campus. I really, really looked up to Lauren. She was pretty much the best player on the team but just the most down to earth, wonderful person in the world. And she taught me a lot of what it means to be a Christian. I can still hear the announcer in Rec Hall calling out her name when she made some crazy play - Lauren CACC-iamani...
2) The wedding was a rather huge success. I was also rather crippled by the end of the night but both O and I really enjoyed ourselves and watching our cousins start their lives together. Definitely the fanciest wedding I've ever been to (our wedding doesn't even come close) but still very cool. I agree with Bree though - you can definitely count "wedding" as a workout for the day! Didn't help that the weather was AWFUL but everything turned out beautifully (Only SNAFU was when one of the bridesmaids went down - hard. I attributed it to lack of nutrition - she needed a gel before she came down the ailse - but we later learned that her shoes were too tight and she lost feeling/circulation and fainted. She was fine though). I promised pictures of me the most dressed up I've ever been (besides my own wedding day), so here they are:
Exhibit A - dress (and yes, I was very, very cold)
Exhibit B - shoes (and yes, my feet still hurt)
3) As for training today - I did a little of that too. When we woke up this morning it was 34 degrees and pouring down rain. If you've read this blog any time within the past 3 days, you know by now this is my definition of "worst weather ever". So I decided to switch my workouts and do my trainer ride in the AM before church and then my long run sometime in the afternoon when the weather improved. Things were working quite well until we got home from church O informed me we should leave for the run ASAP because the weather was only going to get worse. So instead of rain and 34 degrees we ran in 33 degrees and rain/snow/sleet and WIND. Good trade huh? :) Oh well, you can't win them all. :)
And that's that. Another week is upon us and it will be a busy one! I hope everyone has a great one!

I wish dress shoes were never invented...I wore dress boots out last night and brough an extra tote bag (classy) to the symphony so that I could put on regular shoes for the subway ride home (i took a cab there). You can't take me anywhere!

P.S. Your comment about the chipmunks made me think about how I used to listen to my records on a faster speed, which made all of the songs sound like they were sung by the chipmunks. I was a huge chipmunks fan!

I LOVE the chipmunks song!
Holy low cut dress. I could NEVER pull that off. You are a brave woman! You look great!
I thought of you today when I got blasted with a horrible headwind with 4 miles still to run. Little did I know that you were suffering through your own wind issues. Way to get 'er done!

I hate to reveal that you have a seriously old crone reading your blog, but I saw the chipmunks in the late 1950s or early 1960s on the Ed Sullivan show, which everyone in America watched every Sunday night. I think they used crude hand puppets or something but I loved them. And they were probably a huge relief to the segment of the audience who had been scandalized by the appearance of Elvis Presley a couple of years earlier.
