Bloody Noses & Karaoke
It's getting to be that time of year when the cold and dry air is starting to take it's toll. I can always tell when this time comes because I wake up with a nose bleed and skin so dry it literally sucks up the lotion and screams for more. Somehow I don't think this happens to people that live in Florida (although those of us here in Pittsburgh never have to worry about sunburn - so there - ha! :)
Regardless, my nose was also bleeding after my run this afternoon. Yuck. I see blood all day long (I do work in a hospital afterall) and it doesn't make me blink twice but I see my own blood and...well...that's a whole 'nother thang! My nose bleeds never last that long though so I shouldn't complain.
In other news, today we had our department holiday party at work. Always a very fun time. And because I work for the Food and Clinical Nutrition Department (which includes CATERING) we always get the best food. :) Regardless, an added bonus to the party this year was a DJ (sort of weird since it was a middle of the work day type of party) and KARAOKE! My co-workers and I were all quite intrigued with the thought of karaoke and taking bets as to who would be first. And oh did we have a blast! We thought it was lame at first but then people really started to get into it and...well...imagine your boss's boss's boss belting out Sweet Caroline at the top of his lungs...and you get the picture. I, of course, mostly just laughed at everyone else and wasn't brave enough to do any singing of my own. Perhaps if they had the Chipmunks Christmas Song available I would have partaken. :)
As for training I did a little swim (lots of pull!) this morning and ran when I got home from work. I tried out my favorite trail just to see if it was still runable and not too snowy/icy. It's not perfect by any means but it was definitely runable. As for my foot, it was okay - not great but not bad. I see the MD tomorrow.
