The Good and the Bad
The good news? I went running today!
The bad news? Well - there really isn't any bad news. So that's good news too I guess!
First off - a 4500 yd swim this morning that was a little tough to get through mentally. The first part of the main set included 3x800 which is just really hard for me to focus through. I guess that's why we do sets like that though - to learn how to focus. Got through the swim just fine though when all was said and done.
After work I was excited to come home and try running again. And it actually felt like fall which made it more exciting! After over a week of temps in the low to mid 80s, 55 degreees, overcast and windy felt downright cold on my run this afternoon! Just wait until I ride tomorrow morning... Anyway, I ran for 45 minutes at the suggestion of my coach. And the hamstring? It's not 100% by any means. I can still feel it some and my hip on that leg gets a little sore when I run (telling me my stride is a bit off) but still, better than before. Overall a 7.5 out of 10 rating today. At this point I don't think I'm going to get this thing feeling 100% but if I can run 2x/week, make up the rest of my runs in the pool and make it through the race okay, I will be thrilled. On a positive note, despite running faster than usual my HR was low, low, low. I know a good deal of that is due to cooler weather but I like to believe part of it is due to getting fitter too!
Anyway, after the run it was off to the weight room for a lifting session. This week marks a change in the lifting routine to the final stage called "chisel". The last stage was "power". Chisel involves lightening the weights back up and only 2 sets of 12.
And that was my day! Good night all!
