Pool Time and I'm Old
So I'm pretty sure if you looked up the definition of "boring" in the dictionary there would be some reference to 2 hours of aqua-jogging. You don't know boring until you've done 2 hours of up about 12 meters, back about 12 meters, up and back, up and back, up and back so many times you want to poke your eyes out! But it's done and for that I'm glad! I helped pass the time with some intervals (15, 10, 5 min hard w/5 min rest, 5x2 min hard w/1 min rest, 5x1 min hard w/30 sec rest) and O was also nice enough to join me about half way in. I'm just glad my long runs don't go longer than 2 hours! :)
I was going to attempt some land running today but when I woke up this morning my hammy was a little sore and I didn't want to press my luck. My new plan is to run 45 min on Wednesday and if all goes well with that, maybe and hour of my long run next Sunday. We shall see. Instead of land running this morning I got my 1 hour of easy riding in on the trainer before church.
And now it's time to go eat burritos and pumpkin pie Blizzards. Trust me when I say the thought of burritos got me through my long pool run. Hey, whatever works right?!
So in other news I got an invitation to my 10 year high school anniversary today (an e-vite). What's up with that? Somewhere along the way I got old. The reunion is this November and since it's pretty close to where we live and it's cheap and O and I will be in town I think I would like to go. I really liked high school but I didn't do the best job of keeping up with everyone so I think it would be fun to see what everyone is up to! O has agreed to go with me although he went to the "other" school across town and he's even older than me so he won't know anyone. Regardless - I'm curious if other people went to their HS reunions? Please do tell!
Alas...I can hear a burrito calling my name...

I went to my 10 year reunion. It was in a pretty lame location, which I thought made it a little less fun. I mostly just hung out with people I was still in touch with, but as the years go by, I've been in touch with those people even less (I'm up for my 15th reunion next year, if they decide to have one, so I'm ancient).
The best part was when we were exchanging class e-mails beforehand and some people were emailing the class to say things like, "Sorry, I can't be there." One girl, who was popular in high school (which often means not necessarily the nicest person), accidently (I suppose) hit "reply all" and wrote something like, "Remind me...who the hell is ___ ___" (one of the guys who e-mailed to say he couldn't come). I felt horrible for him, and some of my friends were convinced that the two of them had dated during high school. For the most part, however, most people seemed to be much more mature than they had been in high school.

I made my 10th and 15th (last spring.) Can't remember if I was even notified about my 5th; my class hasn't really got the online-communication thing down, particularly not then. I liked it, in general; the people who care enough to come back are the ones most likely to come in friendly. But all the ones you were uncomfortable talking to in high school? Still uncomfortable...

I attended my 10-year reunion last weekend. I was really surprised--I had a *wonderful* time.
The venue wasn't so great, the event was a bit expensive and turn out wasn't very high (my class had close to 700 graduates and only 80-90 attended the reunion). It was a lot of fun though. Almost everyone who attended was friendly and happy. Very little "I'm-much-more-successful-than-you" chitchat. It was great to meet up with friends and acquaintances I had lost touch with and to see and hear about their lives and their significant others.

I was -so- sad that I couldn't make it to my 10 year reunion. It didn't sound like I missed a thing. And, hey, don't go calling people like us old!
Glad you survived your pool long run today. It made me think of the 1 or 2 times in which I've done long runs on hotel treadmills and felt like I was going crazy. Awesome that O could join you to make some of the time go by faster!
