Long Run
My titles have been extremely creative lately, I know.
This morning O, Roxy and I went on my last long run of this year's training. When you put it that way it's kind of sad! Although there will (hopefully) be many seasons and many long runs to come so I'm not too broken up about it. :) And the run actually wasn't that long, so I'm not even sure it can be called a long run. Nonetheless I digress.
I was happy to do all 1:25 of the run though! My hamstring is so status quo I don't even feel like mentioning it anymore. Yes it hurts. No it's not any worse. No it's not any better!
But the run this morning was good. It was quite chilly (high 30s, low 40s) but a beautiful, brilliant fall day (once the sun rose). Fall is in all it's glory now in our area and the leaves have never been more beautiful.
I felt like we were flying this morning! I checked our pace on the track just to get an idea and we were running around 7:45 pace. Now I used to run all my long runs at more like 7-7:30 pace but since starting with Mark Allen Online and being introduced to the idea of aerobic training and trying to discipline myself to stay below the prescribed HR, I haven't seen anything under 8 minute pace for quite some time. I know a good deal of this improvement is from the weather but part of it is also hopefully an improvement (finally!) in my aerobic capacity. When I first started with MAO I couldn't run 8:30 pace with my HR in the 140s! Now I'm down into the 7:40 range. Thank goodness! Now if my hamstring would just stay attached to my body I think we might be good to go. :)
Regardless, after our run and church and lunch it's now time for a nap. My life is more predictable than one could even imagine. Train, eat, nap and occasionally go to work. :) I also have an hour easy bike on the schedule which I'll do at some point today - either this afternoon or after dinner tonight. I hope everyone enjoys this wonderful fall day and has a great start to their week!
Oh - almost forgot - no win for Penn State last night! In fact it wasn't really even close. But I suppose you can't be disappointed given the fact that Ohio State is ranked #1. Still... But at least Pitt lost! :)
