Two Hours
The number for today seems to be two hours - I did a 2 hour ride this morning and I just got up from a 2 hour nap! How's that?! I seriously think I would win some sort of napping contest. I'm really good at it. Although O would give me a run for my money. He's even better than me...
I started my ride around 8 this morning. Nothing exciting in particular although it was a pretty good ride. My quads are a little on the tired side but that will be taken care of over the next week with my easier taper workouts! It was SOOO humid though! Several times I thought it had started to rain when really it was just the heavy damp air that I was riding through. Ahh...such is the life on the east coast in late July! :) (although I know it's worse in the south - I'm sure where my parents live in SC you probably couldn't breathe this morning the humidity was so harsh!)
Regardless, when I got home I tooled around for about 30 minutes before O and I headed off to the pool. I had a 3000 yd workout that involved a mixture of things (8x150, 3x200 pull, 10x50) which is just the kind of workout I like. I felt good swimming too. Can't ask more than that!
After we got home from the pool O and I ate lunch and watched today's time trial on le Tour. What. The. Heck?!?! I can't get over how fast they ride. It's one thing when they are all riding together and working together but today was a time trial. Just them and their $15,000 bikes and averaging about 32-33 mph over 34-35 miles! AHHHH!!! Love looking at their bikes though. Absolute insanity.
Next up was a shower and some stretching and then the 2 hour nap. I started watching an ITU triathlon on tv but just couldn't keep my eyes open. O and Roxy couldn't either. I woke up at one point (only to fall right back asleep) to find the pooch using me as a pillow! :)
Anyway, I've got some stuff to accomplish this weekend but not much and that makes me happy. It's just these sort of weekends that I like the best - enough to keep me busy but not too much to not have time to relax, rest and recover.
I leave you with a picture from my last race. O's mother is quite a good picture taker! :)
