More Yardage
This morning I hit up the YMCA for some pool time. 3500 yds total with a very short, yet intense main set that basically involved 6x100 all out. It also involved 6x50 kick hard which probably hurt more than anything else. My legs are tired from yesterday's efforts and usually get a break during my swims. Today not so much. And they seemed none too pleased with me. But they will get over it. They always do.
That was it for the day other than work of course and then a trip to the chiropractor.
Tomorrow is a longish brick - 3 hour ride/30 min run and then a swim. I'm armed and ready to go tomorrow with my anti-nausea regimen that I'm going to try next race day. They include ear plugs for my swim, ginger and some NUUN in my water (along with my usual MarkAllenOnline Fluid Energizer and assorted gels/clif blocs/etc... for nutrition). I know it seems like a bit much but I'm willing to try anything to make the nausea stop...and if that means ear plugs, extra electrolytes and ginger capsules well than so be it. Of course I will have no idea if any of this actually works because I NEVER get nauseated during training but at the very least I'll be able to make sure it doesn't adveresly affect me. As the saying goes...never try anything new on race day!
In other news I think I've brokered a deal with my cycling friend such that I can borrow his Zipp 404 race wheels for my next two races - Steelhead in August and Worlds in September. It's not really a deal because he's getting nothing in return for my use of his wheels, but he is so kind and willing to help me in any way he can to see me succeed. I was thinking the other day how lucky I am to have him and so many other people in my life that genuinely care and want nothing in return for their support. Very, very, very blessed in that way.
Regardless, I really can't wait to get my hands on those wheels because...well...race wheels just make you feel fast. I used them most of all last year but haven't raced yet with them this year so I'm pretty excited. And trust me when I say, I'm willing to take all the help I can get... :)
Have a great weekend everyone!
