I was very excited to get this workout in outside before the storms started so I could get some hot, hilly and WINDY training in on the bike. Having done my past few cycling workouts on the trainer, I was looking forward to hitting it hard outside. And the weather could not have cooperated better. The wind was crazy – mostly crosswinds and headwind on the way out and crosswinds and tailwind on the way back. It was just what I was looking for. Nothing like some crazy winds to practice the bike handling skills! I felt pretty good on the ride. With the tailwind on the way back I was able to push the bike 27-28 MPH on the flats. I hit 36 MPH going down a hill too. That’s the best part about riding outside – you feel FAST!
After all that jazz I hung around at home some (wherein I made my amazing pretzel discovery) and then finally headed out for my run around 6:30. It was 75 minutes and while I was a little worn from the bike workout it was nice to be out pre-storm. It was getting even windier and dark and I like the way it smells and feels before thunder is on it’s way.
And now I’m tired and ready for bed. Good night all!
