Hook 'em Horns!

A birthday gift! :)

Today before picking my mom up at the airport I partook in some training. First up a 3:15 bike/30 min transition run combo. Both were good. The ride was especially nice considering I left relatively early (~6:15 am) and pretty much had the roads to myself! By the time the run rolled along it was kind of on the hot side but nothing too hard to handle. Roxy was none to pleased though. Heat is apparently her kryptonite as she was not liking the running today and indeed just plopped down in the grass several times. She does have a black fur coat on I guess... :)

After I got home from the brick I messed around for about 30 minutes before heading off to the pool.

AM swim workout:
3500 yds total @YMCA
wu: 500 easy, 4x100 mod w/20 sec rest, 6x50 fast w/15 sec rest
ms: 600 (8:20), 100 (1:18), 400 (5:30), 100 (1:18), 200 (2:45), 100 (1:19) w/15 sec rest for longer repeats, 45 sec rest for 100s, 14x50 on :55
cd: 100 easy

This was actually the best I've felt swimming in about 2 or 3 weeks despite the fact that it followed a close to 4 hour brick. Odd. I guess more than anything was I wasn't expecting a whole heck of a lot so I really just took the longer intervals relaxed and moderate and overall just felt better. Relaxtion is apparently the key for me. Now if I could just do it in 65 degree open water at the start of a race with a bunch of other people swimming around me...I'd be just fine... :)
