Taking Care of Business

I know that taking care of the little things in my life will help with my training/racing. Sleep, nutrition, stretching, recovery in general so that the body can put up with what I ask it to do day in a day out. I try very hard all the time to take care of this stuff. I do the best I can but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I have lots to do and don't get to bed early enough and only get 6 hours of sleep. I'm rushing to an appointment and don't have time to stretch after a run. I eat 9 slices of pizza. You know...life happens.

But today I took care of business! I went to bed last night at 8:15. I get up at 4:45 so that was 8.5 hours of sleep. And it was awesome. Okay - I didn't really plan on going to bed before 9 but I fell asleep watching tv and didn't wake up until my alarm went off this morning. No wait - I think O coaxed me out of bed at some point to brush my teeth, but that was it. And I think I was sleep brushing.

I also got a massage today! I'm trying to get one once a month. I would do them all the time if I could but who has that kind of money? Regardless I had one scheduled after work and it was a good one. She really worked on my aching back. I felt like her elbow was in going to go through me. After a while I determined it wasn't her elbow but rather some sort of wooden, knobby torture device. Either way she was working it. I may be sore tomorrow but it will have been worth it!

And I even ate a salad today at lunch (in addition to many other things of course). You can't stop me!!

Now excuse me while I go make some dinner and watch some tv. Days off training really are quite delightful... :)

Yeah you and your salad! (That soundly nutritionally beats my afternoon snack of brownie chocolate chip cookies broken into pieces and smushed into the peanut butter jar which i then ate by spoon).

HOW AWESOME is going to bed at ridiculously early times?? How awesome!!?!? It's a necessity. Wow you get up early :)

You must just lavish in these days off because you work so hard on every single other day! I'm glad you enjoyed it today!

Hey, I have a question (Ok, maybe it's a series of questions.). When you have a little free time (I know, what's that?), could you describe for tri-idiots like me what the process is going to be like for you to try to go pro this summer? How many races do you have to do? Do you have to get a certain place in the races? I only recall little bits and pieces about it from last fall when you wrote about making the decision to go for it this year. I must be educated so I can properly cheer for you! Thanks!
