Back to Normal
So Mother Nature apparently came to her senses and realized that it was way to warm for Pittsburgh for early April. This afternoon when I ran it was 41 degrees, windchill of 33 degrees and very fine little ice pellets were hitting me in the face. Now that's the Pittsburgh I know! I keep telling myself though - get through 1 or 2 more weeks of this and then the nicer weather will be here to say. It's a lot easier to have hope and a positive attitude in April vs the middle of February when you just want to cry. Oh wait - that's what I did in February. :)
Anyway, this morning I woke up and O and I both went to the YMCA. He has the whole week off school for spring break so he was able to join me. Makes getting out of bed at 4:45 am much easier.
AM swim workout:
4500 yds total @YMCA
wu: 500 easy, 4x50 w/20 sec rest
ms: 6x600 as 2x600 swim w/1 min rest (8:18, 8:10), 2x600 pull w/30 sec rest (9:40, 9:41), 2x600 w/30 sec rest broken at 150s for 15 sec (2:03, 2:02, 2:00, 2:00, 2:00, 1:59, 1:59, 1:58)
cd: 200 easy
Dear Lord! Farthest I've ever swam at one time and longest main set too. 6x600? UGH! I know real swimmers would get a kick of this seeing as how real swimmers would probably think 4500 yds is an easy morning workout (with a harder and longer evening workout to come). But for this little non-fish runner I was water logged! These long sets where the main set intervals are long are more mentally challenging than anything for me so I just really worked on staying positive and working hard the whole time. One thing is for sure. I do believe those 1500 meter swims in my tris are going to feel short... :) Or not... :)
After work I wanted to crawl up in a ball and sleep for a long time. I actually started to do just that on the floor in our "work" room but Roxy attacked me. Dumb dog. I don't wake her up when she's trying to sleep! So out I went for my 30 minute easy jog and then over to the YMCA for a lifting session. My lifting has changed up a little now too - some of the normal exercises I do are "powered up" meaning I add some weight and cut down on the reps. I better watch out or I might actually get strong. :)
Now I need to take a shower because, well...I stink.
Good night everyone!

Actually, we do sometimes wake up Roxy when she's sleeping in the evenings by turning on the lights in the room. She lifts her head with her sleepy eyes and droopy ears and then goes back to sleep. Maybe she's getting you back for that.
