Monster Swim
I gotta admit it. When I woke up this morning I wasn't really looking too forward to the swim workout that awaited. It was 4000 yds total with a main set of 3200 yds and although I've definitely done that much before something about this particular set of intervals scared me. But I survived just fine. In fact the workout went pretty well!
4000 yds total @YMCA
wu: 300 yds easy, 200 yd kick, 4x50 w/30 sec rest
ms: 1x1000 w/2 min rest (14:01), 5x200 w/30 sec rest (2:43, 2:43, 2:41, 2:41, 2:39), 10x100 w/alternating rests of 30 sec/15 sec (all 1:17-1:20), 200 kick (3:04)
cd: 100 easy
I think it was the 1000 that gave me the creeps. But I focused on "steady" and strong not all out and crazy and it was over before I knew it!
This afternoon I did an easy 30 minute run and then headed back to the YMCA to lift. Nothing special or exciting other than our weather is absolutely perfect right now - 65 and sunny with a nice breeze!
Tomorrow I have a track workout! Very exciting. I'm going to do it as my first workout so I'll be out there in the dark at 5 am but I don't want to squander the possibility of doing my 2:15 ride outside in the afternoon sun. Choices, choices!
Good night everyone!
PS Bike fitting went very well yesterday - LOVE the new machine! They are making some more adjustments and then I'll pick it up and take it home Friday. Just in time for my 4 hour ride on Saturday... :)

Great post on your 4000 yard swim. I just started the swimming phase of my Ironman training about 2 weeks ago and am up to a mile already, and I'll be increasing to 2000 yards per swim next week. I started the cycling phase about 6 weeks ago, so your blog is quite interesting to me.
If you get a chance, please visit my running web site, Faithful Soles. I have a categorized and searchable Running Blog Database on there and would appreciate it if you would link your blog to it. There are lots of other multi-sport athletes who have blogs linked to it. Thanks and continued good luck in your training.
