A Whole Mess of 100s

This morning I headed to the pool and did a whole mess of 100 repeats. 30 of them to be exact. And while it was a taxing workout no doubt, the biggest challenge was keeping track of how many I had done and how many I had to go. My mind plays mean tricks on me when I try to count above about 12 or 13.

AM swim workout
4000 yds total @YMCA
wu: 200 yds easy, 4x50 yds w/30 sec rest
ms: 30x100 on 1:35, 300 kick (4:44)
cd: 300 easy

The workout was written as 30x100 steady w/15 seconds rest which I figured was the same as 30x100 on 1:35 for me. I swim just about everything (whether it be 50s or 500s) at that 1:20/100 yd pace so I figured for sake of keeping track of things, doing the 100s on a time interval would be easiest.

And thank God I did it that way because I lost count of which one I was on soooo many times! I was always able to figure it out though because I could do the math with my culmuative time. Crazy swim workouts. Who likes to think that much when you are trying to work hard! I did break the session down into sets of 5 but I still had trouble (was that #2 or #3 and for that matter am I on the 3rd set or the 4th set?!?!).

Anyway, it was a good workout. I probably could have kept going for some time but I was definitely glad to reach 30. My arms started to feel it around #24 or so.

After work I came home and did a nice and easy 30 minute run. Really easy. It's still warm here although raining now. I'll take 60 degrees and raining over 20 degrees and snowing any day. After the run I headed to the YMCA for a lifting session.

And now I must go track down Roxy because I'm about 99.9% sure that she has one of my socks and is currently chewing it to shreds.... :) Good night everyone!
