A Tale of Two Sports
Okay, I'll admit, I'm getting a little desperate for blog titles... :)
This morning I woke up and saw O off to Chicago. He'll be away at a conference for the next few days so it's me and the pooch. This means I'll be on 100% dog duty. I'm usually the feeder and the one who lets Roxy in and out but O is the dog walker. This will now be my job and let me just tell you - I fear for my limbs. If I stop reporting on swim workouts you'll know why: Roxy has gone and ripped my arm right out of it's socket.
I had hoped to ride outside today (like last Thursday) but it was a no go. Sunny and beautiful yes, but warm a big NO. It was 7 degrees when I woke up! So I rode inside on the trainer - 2 hours total. I watched the movie Cheaper by the Dozen and that made the ride go by faster.
After my ride I changed and stretched some, ate a PowerBar and then headed out for my run. By the time I ran it was more like 21 degrees with a 12 degree windchill but the sun really made a difference. It didn't feel too bad. My run was 50 minutes long. I felt fine. I know I keep saying this but I feel like I'm slowly making progress in terms of pace while still remaining in my target HR range. I can definitely move on the downhills and I'm progressing on the flats. I still have to slow markedly on uphills but I'm assuming that might ALWAYS happen. :)
So that's my training for today! Soon I will be leaving for a massage. I'm hoping to get one a month over the next couple months as I start to race, etc... We shall see!

Random point #1: if you're cold, you're cold. I just can't figure how you manage to go out in sub freezing temps with normal sports apparel. Shouldn't you be wearing a neoprene suit? :-)
Random point #2: in photos, Roxie seems so calm, quiet, almost tender in her ways... guess not, huh?
