Still Alive
Day #1 sans pizza and I'm still alive. You would think I would have gone into vitamin P deficiency already but it hasn't happened. Lunch was painful though. They had some darn good looking pizza in the cafeteria today. :)
This morning I partook in a very difficult swim workout. No kidding - it was really hard.
3500 yds total @YMCA
wu: 600 easy, 4x50 w/30 seconds rest
ms: 4x600 w/45 seconds rest (8:26, 8:15, 8:13, 8:15), 200 kick easy
cd: 100 easy
Now, I've never swam repeats longer than 500 yds and I've not swam anything hard much longer than 200s for the past month or so. And boy was I feeling it this morning! I would feel super for about 400 of the 600s and then really start to fatigue. And then the form starts to break down and then I'm taking breathes every stroke and then things get uglier and uglier... :) But that's why we do long, hard workouts right? To make us stronger. Anyway, I was really glad when I finished that last 600. And let me tell you, that 200 kick easy was *really* easy.
When I got home from work today all I had scheduled was a lifting session (which I did at the YMCA). I usually have a short, easy run on Wednesdays too but because I'm racing this weekend some of my workouts got cut out and that was one of them.
Nothing much else is going on here. It was beautiful again today - sunny and about 40 degrees! Much (but not all) of our snow has melted which makes me really happy. I don't think my running trail will be clear for some time but at least the roads are snow/ice/slush free now. I'm really hoping the track will get uncovered also sometime soon. Either that or I'm going to have to take my shovel and bag of salt and get to work on lane 1.... :)
