Slow on the Uptake

So I definitely think my body is feeling better. I'm much less sore and when I was running and riding today my HR was normal indicating that I've recovered from Saturday's race. But my hamstrings somehow missed the memo on the whole "feeling better" piece because they are still tight and painful! They always were a little slow on the uptake. What can I say, they are hamstrings afterall... :)

AM swim workout:

2500 yds total @YMCA
wu: 200 easy, 6x75 w/20 sec rest (25 stroke, 50 free)
ms: 1x500 (6:46) w/1 min rest, 2x300 (3:58, 3:59) w/45 sec rest, 6x100 (1:18, 1:19, 1:18, 1:18, 1:18, 1:18) w/20 sec rest, 1x100 kick (1:29)
cd: 50 easy

Work was work. Funny how that happens. :) I had "the pager" today which is never good because you invariably get multiple pages wherein people give you more work and in general ask you to do things you don't want to do. I only threatened to throw the darn thing out the window 2 times today, which is an improvement upon most weeks. :)

When I got home I had to answer the age old question - to run or ride first? I should ride first but given the weather and daylight situation I've been running first on Tuesdays. I stuck with tradition and did the same today. Once it's warm enough and stays light longer I will switch.

My run was 1:10 today. Nothing exciting. It was easy. My hamstrings were misbehaving as previously noted but otherwise all systems were on go! And then I came home and hopped on my bike for an hour "tempo". That too was fine and since I don't use my hamstrings when I ride nearly as much as when I run (likely due to an inefficient pedal stroke!), I wasn't in any pain. :)

Time for bed for it will soon be time to do it all over again... :)
