Run = Bad, Swim = Good
Well, my foot is still hurting and I'm kind of bummed about that. But on the other hand, my swimming is coming along quite nicely. This morning I had a good workout. I was pretty excited about it.
3000 yds total @YMCA (600 yds warmup including 4x100 of 25 kick, 25 right arm only, 25 left arm only, 25 swim and 800 yds cooldown)
My goal was to swim the odd repeats on a 1:25 pace and the even repeats on a 1:20 pace.
100 (1:24) 15 sec rest,
200 (2:40) 20 sec rest,
300 (4:15) 40 sec rest,
400 (5:17) 60 sec rest,
300 (4:04) 40 sec rest,
200 (2:33) 20 sec rest,
100 (1:21)
I was more than thrilled to swim my 400 in just a bit under the 1:20 goal pace and I was also happy about the fact that swimming 1:25 pace isn't too awful bad. I'm not just floating along, but it's getting more comfortable and I'm more relaxed doing it. My secret goal (which I guess is no longer secret) is to be able to do 20x100 on 1:20. Now that's like crazy fast for me and right now I couldn't do it. At all. But today was the first day that I believed I will be able to do that workout. And if I can do that workout, I should be able to get out of the water with the lead pack (of amateurs that is) at the races that I am doing this summer. Maybe not the lead swimmer (there's always one or two in the group that blow everyone away) but the lead pack.
In the afternoon (around 2:30) I snuck out of work and headed to the gym to lift. New phase of lifting now too. We are now in the muscular strength phase which doesn't mean too much to me other than the fact that instead of doing 3 sets of 30 I now do 4 sets of 6. Big difference! But of course I actually have to lift some real weights now - not just real light stuff. Either or, it was a good mid afternoon workout.
Finally, movie nite which really turned into watching tv nite which turned into a basketball game. Nobody wanted to watch Everybody Loves Raymond with me so I got out voted. :) Anyway, on tap for the ride was 1:35 total w/10 minutes per leg of ILT. Nothing excited but I got 'er done.
Anyway, as I mentioned my foot is still bothering me so I will swim in the morning and then return to the pool in the evening (after my LAST class) for some pool running. I'm not happy with my foot at all but I'm also trying not to dwell on it. I have a lot of other training to keep me busy right now. I will start worrying about my foot if it's still hurting in a couple weeks.
You wouldn't even believe how sleepy I am - so to bed I go. Good night!
