Just Like a Fish
I felt like a million bucks in the pool this morning! I felt strong and good and although I didn't swim any faster than usual, it was awesome to feel awesome. I try to savor times like these because I know by the end of the week my arms are going to feel like they are ready to fall off. :)
AM swim workout:
4100 yds total at YMCA (1000 yds warmup, 1000 yds cooldown - both including some various drills)
100 (1:23) 15 sec rest,
200 (2:41) 20 sec rest,
300 (4:09) 40 sec rest,
400 (5:17) 60 sec rest,
300 (4:05) 40 sec rest,
200 (2:34) 20 sec rest,
100 (1:20)
10x50 kick on 1 minute
As with the other times I've done this workout, my goal was to swim the odd repeats on a 1:25 pace and the even repeats on a 1:20 pace.
After the pool I did a 45 minute (including warmup and cooldown) plyometric session that involved jumping around and looking weird. The people at the YMCA undoubtedly think I'm a rather strange bird. Regardless, I cooled down with 10 minutes of easy jogging in the gym to try out my new shoes/foot. All felt good. YIPPPEEEEEE!
I have today as my day off work so this afternoon I need to get a haircut and then I have a doctor's appointment and then I'll be heading down to the shop to do CompuTrainer ride #4 (total of 2:15 on the bike). Looking forward to the ride this afternoon - the proflie looks like a nice flat stretch that you can hammer.
And thus begins my big training week! When I look at my workouts on Sunday afternoon I sometimes get overwhelmed - wondering how in the world I'm going to fit it all in. But I have to say, once I get my first swim of the week under my belt on Monday morning it feels that much more manageable. I love this guys. I really do. I love the challenge of the training and I love to keep pushing to see how far I can go. I love how I can feel my body getting stronger. And I think what I'll love even more is racing this upcoming season!
Have a great day everyone!
