Workout, Eat, Work, Repeat
Lots of training today. Lots of eating today. Lots of working today (kind of).
AM swim workout:
2500 yds total at the YMCA (800 yds warmup, 200 yds cooldown)
5x200 on 3
5x100 on 1:30
True to form, I have one speed only. This morning's swim was the perfect example. Doing 200s on 3 minutes seems easier for me than doing 100s on 1:30. Same pace right? So doing the shorter interval should be easier. Not so for me. I felt like I could swim 200s in 2:42-2:45 forever. I was ready to be done with the 100s after about 2 of them. Either way, it was a good workout. I felt kind of akward in the water but otherwise all was good.
lunch time lifting session:
Snuck (is that a word?) out of work at lunch time to do my weights at the Pitt gym. There are only 7 exercises (with a brief warmup and cooldown) but it still takes me an hour. Why you might ask? 3 sets of 30 is the answer! :) After lifting session, back to work where I inhaled leftover spaghetti (literally) and then went back to work.
Spent the better part of the afternoon trying to talk a patient and his wife into the idea of having a surgical feeding tube placed. Everyone is against feeding tubes and I suppose in some circumstances I can understand why. But in some cases they are so beneficial I can't even comprehend why you wouldn't want one! Heck, if I thought I could get a surgeon to place one in me I might opt for it. I would get much better much nutrition that way. :)
After work I raced over to the shop. It's 60 degrees here (AHHHH!!!!!) and I wanted desperately to ride outside but time and daylight were against me.
PM cycling workout:
I opted to ride outside anyway. The mechanic at the shop (who has saved me from myself more than once) quickly put some blinkey lights on my road bike as I quickly changed and then I headed out. I rode for 1:17 or 1:18 - 25.7 miles or so. I was good on daylight until about the last 5 miles. Then it got a little scary. I probably won't do that again. Aside from it turning real dark real quick I had a wonderful ride. I felt really good and kind of felt like I was flying along. My rides lately haven't been the greatest. I haven't had any really bad rides but I haven't had many great ones either. Felt good to feel good today if you know what I mean.
Last but not least - pm pilates workout:
I'm starting to learn what some of the "moves" are actually called. I'm not graceful by any means and I'm sure I don't look good doing this stuff, but hopefully that core is getting stronger.
So there we have it - 4 hours of the 14.5 hour week complete! Tomorrow a swim in the am and then bike/run in the pm.
