Swimming, Lifting, Cycling and a New Car Too

AM swim workout:

2700 yds total @YMCA (900 yds warmup, 400 yds cooldown)
2x500 yds w/1 min rest (6:50, 6:45)
400 yds moderate kick (6:45)

Arms. Were. Tired. But I did this same workout last week a lot slower. Weird.

Mid AM lifting session:
I busted out of work around 11 am (when I would normally be chowing down some lunch) for a lifting session at Pitt's gym. Same 7 exercises (with warmup and cooldown) but this time, 3 sets of 30 reps. Seriously people - 30 reps?! That takes forever! I think I have about 4 weeks of this high rep stuff until the reps lower but the weight increases. I think. See how much I know about my training? :)

PM cycling workout:
After work over to the shop for a session on the trainer - 55 minutes total, mostly easy spinning (very high cadence) but also w/7x30 second spin-ups. Nothing too hard or exciting, but a workout nonetheless.

It's cold outside. Did I mention I'm excited to go to the warmth of North Carolina for Thanksgiving?

In other news, we got a new car today. Long story short - we weren't really in the market to buy a new car but for some (very) strange reason, the car dealership where we bought the current car I drive REALLY wants used models of that car. They must be worth something (could have fooled me) because they gave us a very good incentive to trade in our car for a new one of the the same type. REGARDLESS - not that you care AT ALL but the point of the story is, new car is a stick. Now, our other car is a stick too but that's the car I don't really drive. Do I know how to drive a stick? Yes. Kind of. I'm not the best but now that I won't have a choice, I guess I'm going to get real good at it. Interesting thing is, it turns out not all sticks are the same. (who would have thunk it?) New car has a VERY short clutch compared to our other car and although I drove the thing all the way home from the dealership myself without stalling out, I know I will stall out soon. O and I have a running bet - who stalls out first - him or I? If I was a bettin' gal, I know where I would put my money... :)

TWO MORE DAYS UNTIL TURKEY TIME MY FRIENDS!

When in doubt, push in the clutch.....

It took me months to be willing to make a left hand turn into traffic for fear I'd stall out with a car headed right towards me and cause an accident. I found only right hand routes to all of my destinations :-) It took me 3 days just to drive it after I got it... but I wanted it, because it had heated seats and well it gets REALLY cold here :-) it was worth it.
Enjoy your new car and awesome training... You will do great in your tri
