Done for the Day!
I'm happy to report that it's not yet 2 pm and I'm done with my workouts for the day. Good thing since I have class tonight and doing a workout after class is just no fun.
This morning I went to the masters swim practice and was delighted to see that the pool was still set up long course. I love the 50 meter pool so much more than the 25 yarder. I thought the pool was only long course on Mondays in the fall but apparently that is not the case! Good stuff!
AM swim workout:
3300 meters total (600 meters warmup, 300 meters cooldown)
16x150 meters done as 4 sets of 4
How the 150s were done is hard to explain but I'll try anyway. Not that anyone cares but it's a good reminder to me if I'm looking for a workout to do on my own at some later date. The first 50 of each 150 was done as distance for stroke. The 100s in each set were done progressively faster such that the last one was pretty much all out (meaning there were 4 "all-out" 100s). For the first 150 there was no rest between the 50 and the 100, for the 2nd there was a 10 sec rest, for the 3rd a 20 sec rest and for the 4th a 30 sec rest. Yeah - none of that really makes sense but in a nutshell the workout was 150s were you progressively got more rest but had to swim harder. Or something like that...
Regardless it was a good workout and on my last 100 meter "all-out" I swam a 1:22 which is good for me, especially with tired arms.
Moving on - I also had a plyometric type workout to do which I believe is serving as a precursor to some weight lifting. Because I had class tonight I was hoping it would work out so that I could go during my lunch hour and NOT have to do it tonight at 8 pm after class. It was my lucky day because I did indeed have time to get it done.
20 minute easy warmup on elliptical
jumping rope - 3x50 jumps quickly w/45 sec rests
skipping - 5x50 skips quickly w/45 sec rests
hopping for height - 4x30 hops w/45 sec rests
10 minute easy cooldown on bike
I haven't done plyo stuff like that for quite a while - since college I guess. I'm wondering if that hopping is going to make me sore. It may. The standing long jump in the President's physical fitness test ALWAYS made my quads very sore...
And now it's time to get back to work, go to class, go home and go to sleep! :)
