Today Was One of Those Workouts When...

...you really don't want to workout; you'd rather hang out in bed; you're tired; it's raining; and you don't have anyone to train with. Today was one of those days when I would have rather just not...ya know? But in the end today is just the kind of day I like. Because I did do my workout and even though I didn't feel great I put the work in and now I know that I'm just a little bit tougher and stronger than I was yesterday at this time. And a whole bunch of these kinds of days adds up to be a lot in my book.

Exact same workout as last Wednesday although this time it was 60 degrees and raining, very light at first and then harder as the workout progressed. I went to the oval where we have our crits. At least I had the track all to myself.

warmed up on bike for 20 minutes (15 min spinning, then last 5 min got HR up to 160s)

off the bike for 1st 800 - 3:01
5 min on bike (2 easy spinning, 3 hard)
2nd 800 at 5K pace - 2:56
5 min on bike (2 easy spinning, 3 hard)
3rd 800 at 5K pace - 2:56
5 min on bike (2 easy spinning, 3 hard)
4th 800 at 5K pace - 2:53
5 min on bike (2 easy spinning, 3 hard)
5th 800 at 5K pace - 2:49

about 10 miles easy spinning cooldown (23 miles total biking)

I had to really work on the last 800. Overall I was pleased. What was even more pleasing was getting in the nice hot shower after all was said and done!

Tomorrow some swimming and running, Friday more of the same and Saturday a century ride. It's supposed to stop raining by Saturday. Thank goodness!
