Swim and Run

Yes, I know, that title is in contention for the "World's Most Boring Blog Entry Title" but my brain is more uncreative than usual this evening. Bear with me. :)

This morning I headed to the pool. When I woke up my cough was a lot looser, exactly what I was waiting for! That feels much better than a dry, sore cough. Anyway, I think my cold is getting a little better. I have tomorrow off work (for working July 4th) and so that means lots of sleep. Can't beat it! :)

Pool workout: 3300 yds total (800 yds warmup, 500 yds cooldown)

4x25 on :30
4x50 on :55
4x75 on 1:20
4x100 on 1:45
~1 minute rest
4x100 on 1:45
4x75 on 1:20
4x50 on :55
4x25 on :30

I like swimming 25s. :)

When I got home from work I had a run scheduled. Instead I layed on our bed for a while. That is until Roxy started walking all over me wanting her dinner. Dumb dog! It got me up and moving though. I headed to the trail (again) and did my 45 minutes of running, 20 minutes easy, 4x1:30 hard w/3 minutes rest, 10 minutes easy cooldown.

My body feels a little beat down but when I'm actually training I don't feel too bad. This seems to be a relatively tough training week despite my race Sunday which I'm sure is made as such for a purpose. For one, I got a really easy week last week. Can't have too many of those in a row. :)

I sometimes try to imagine what Ironman training will be like at it's peak. Much tougher than what I'm doing now for sure. But I also think less intensity. Volume increase, intensity decrease. I hope anyway, because I'm not sure I could handle more volume at this intensity! It will be interesting for sure...
