Another Try

You guys are so encouraging and well...just plain nice! I appreciate everyone's comments re: yesterday's race. You make me smile and remind me how glad I am to be a part of the running-blogs.com community! :)

Anyway, I thought I would try uploading this picture one more time before I took Alison up on her offer to help me, and viola it worked! :) It was probably because I used O's computer instead. My computer does weird things sometimes... Thanks anyway Alison!

I'm a little on the sore side today, mostly my calves and quads. I'm off to take Roxy for a walk before church though. And then that nap that I have planned AFTER church will probably help too. :)

Summary for last week:
Sunday - off
Monday - 3600 meter swim w/9x300 meters, core/feet exercises
Tuesday - 40 minute run, core/feet exercises
Wednesday - 24 mi bike
Thursday - 3000 meter swim w/21x100 meters, 2x25 pushups and 2x100 crunchers
Friday - 17 mi bike
Saturday - Morraine State Park Sprint Tri (400 meter swim, 7 mi bike, 5K run) and believe it or not I actually cooled down, 20 minute easy run w/Kim
Sunday - off! :)

Have a great day everyone!

Impressive athletic results. May I suggest that O should get a big "YEAH!" as well? Loving support, great teamwork, make quite a difference... They don't seem that way, but I have learned that endurance sports are a lot about teamwork. We tend to forget because the day of the race, we are on our own. And because of the way results are reported. If running was structured like Formula One racing (why not? Are we as "engined-vehicles" any less needy than a four-wheeled racer?) we would have a box with our team manager, coach, timers, our physiotherapists-mechanics, dietician, doctor, a couple of masseurs, drivers, maybe a winnebago for logistics, ect. And they all win too when the chequered flag is waved. As things go, what a joy it is when our loved ones are out there to lend a hand and cheer us on. And to give a great, shared, sense of appreciation for energy well spent. By all. Why is it that cars have become more important than humans? We should be at least on equal terms... Racing is the tip of the iceberg...

How very right you are Corrado!! O does get a super -big-triple YEAH for all his love and support, not just on race day but on EVERY day!

He puts up with a lot, rearranges his schedule, gets up super early on days when he doesn't have to, serves as a pit crew that I couldn't do without, carries my junk, pumps my tires, gives me the reassurance that indeed I am able to perform the task at hand. He cheers me on, takes pictures, gets splits and helps me pull on my wetsuit. He does all the driving, cuts the grass because I'm too tired, works in the summer when most teachers don't so we can afford all this. Oh yeah, and he lives his own life too, working, running (training for his 2nd marathon!) and playing softball. And he's done all this for years, since we've been together!

And not once has he every complained about any of it. Seriously.

And while he's my primary teammate, I have plenty of others. There's no doubt in my mind that to be successful at any sport you have to lots of love and support from those around you. I'm blessed to have that from my family and friends and fellow bloggers and EVERYONE!

This could certainly be a blog entry on it's own... Thanks Corrado.

Aw, shucks! What kind words. It's all about the teamwork. I'm sure Beth will return the favor and pull her weight in October for my marathon.....also she's the organized one. If she didn't keep us highly organized we wouldn't be able to fit all this stuff in every week.
