Leading Lots of Laps

I had been curious as to what the Pitt masters swim team did on Tuesdays (since I only usually go on Mondays and Thursdays) but today I found out! Turns out they swim a lot. Hmm...I couldn't have guessed it. :)

I don't know if it was a usual Tuesday since there wasn't practice yesterday morning, but the pool was set up for 50 meters and we did a mix of longer and shorter intervals. Makes sense.

I was so hot last night and even on my drive into the city that I could not wait to jump into that cold pool! Usually I dread the jump-in but this morning I was running for it. :) It felt awesome too. Anyway, the workout consisted of:

300 meters (moderate pace)
2x150 meters (getting faster on the 2nd one)
3x100 meters (again, each one faster) - did these on 2 minutes
6x50 meters (odd numbers were easy and the evens were hard) - did these on 1:05

We did this little routine twice. My group let me lead today which I would usually protest against (I don't want to mess things up!) but agreed to this morning because certain intervals could be done using different strokes, something they were all doing, but I wasn't. Problem is, I don't really know any other strokes, so sticking with freestyle is just fine with me! Obviously I would be going faster though, hence the suggestion that I lead. I was fine with it too because there really weren't set interval times for each repeat and so there was little for me to get confused on. :)

I was a little on the tired side today. On some of those hard 50s I was sure the pool was never going to end! But I got through fine and actually feel better now afterwards. Regardless, I swam 800 meters warmup and 300 cooldown for a total of 3500 meters, which just happens to be 3827.6465441819773 yds if you are interested. :)

Now - back to work and soon time for home!

That sounds like a tough workout, I am amazed by how much swimming you've been doing!

You will definitely rock your triathlon :)
