I REALLY Want to Ride My Bike
I got my bike back from the store today and the bike guy (who was actually very nice today and didn't make me feel stupid and didn't even smirk once!) had me get re-fitted for it. He put my seat up some since I was having some knee pain and he also moved me forward some. He wants me to come back in a week to lower my aerobars so that I'm sitting even higher. Apparentely that makes you go faster. Oh great - just what I need. :) Anyway, after talking training with him and this other triathlete guy there that races for the bike store's professional team, I was really pumped.
THEN I come home from work and find this. (you gotta watch the movie that it links to - it's sooooo awesome) I have to say I'm a bit obsessed with the idea of an Ironman. I am so inspired by it, by the absolute absurdity of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 and then running a marathon. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment when I finished my first marathon, and again when I ran a big PR in my 2nd. But the truth is, I always knew, since the time I started running, that I would eventually run a marathon and that I could do it. I'm not trying to minimize that marathon at all. But the Ironman. I'm just in awe of it.
So anyway, I'm all pumped up, I can't run (too soon since my last run) and I can't swim (all pools closed), but bike - I could bike! Except for a few minor details:
1) it's pouring rain
2) I restructured how my training week looks and I really want to start taking 1 day totally off from training as my races approach and Sunday just happens to be the day for that.
Bugger. But tomorrow is a new day and another chance to swim, run or bike!
