Hot Hot Hot!
Happy Memorial Day to everyone - especially to the veterans who have lost their lives for our freedom!
So yeah - it's really hot here! I know it's hotter than usual in many places though so everyone is enduring extra heat and humidity. It's actually a good thing for me. My first triathlon is in Charleston, SC in mid-June and I'm guessing it's going to be nice and sauna-like down there. Today was good acclimation training!
I set off on my bike this morning and rode a nice 21 miler. At first my legs were pretty fatigued. I usually swim today, but the pool was closed at the YMCA and the Pitt team was only practicing in the afternoon, so instead I did what I would normally do tomorrow. All that means is that there was a little less rest than usual between my rides/runs. I usually like to have a swim in there to freshen up! Either way, after about 5 miles I felt a little better and was rolling along pretty nicely. It was a beautiful morning. My average pace was exactly 18.01 MPH - finally - I broke the 18 MPH barrier!
I got back home, hopped off my bike, starting changing shoes and then the heat and humidity hit me. One huge benefit of riding vs running is the nice little breeze you get when you are on the bike! I figured I was going to be in for a tough run but it honestly wasn't that bad. I ran over to the track where O was doing 400 and 800 repeats and it was perfect timing in that he was just finishing up and we ran home together. I was definitely hot and thirsty and probably not moving that fast, but my legs didn't feel like lead either. I ran for 30 minutes total.
And now it's time for a shower as large salt deposits have formed on me and they are really grossing me out! I hope everyone has a great day!

I'm really enjoying "watching" you transform yourself into a triathlete. I think you're going to be really good at it, too.
