Still Alive

So I survived my return to work on Thursday and again on Friday but I learned a valuable lesson - the fact that laying in bed all day is much less taxing than the whole process of getting up, driving to work, working all day, driving home from work, etc... In other words, I was pretty wiped out just from going to work on both Thursday and Friday. Who knew work could make you so tired? Either way, going to work is about all I did the past two days.

This morning I slept in. When we woke up it was in the 40s and the temps were supposed to get up to the 60s. I still felt kind of tired but I didn't want to squander such a nice day. So after lunch O and I decided to go for a bike ride (as in real bikes, not spinning). It was nice to be out in the warm weather and just to be outside in the fresh air in general. We rode for an hour, down along the Allegheny River, that is until we had to come back UP to where we live. This process involved several large hills which turns out really tired out our legs. I'm pretty sure I could have run up some of the hills faster. Then again, considering the running shape I'm in right now, maybe not. :)

In other news, I actually registered for my first triathlon. It's not until June but the race director warns that the race fills up fast and I didn't want to get left out. It's a sprint race, 0.3 mi swim, 13 mi bike and 3 mi run. It's in Charleston, SC, which is on the way down to visit my parents in Hilton Head Island, all part of our grand vacation scheme. I'm really looking forward to actually being able to do a triathlon after all this training, although at this point I feel kind of behind after struggling with my knee, then a cold, then the flu. Hopefully I'll be good from here on out.

And now for the most astounding summary for the week: (hold onto your hats!)

Sunday - 1 hour run, core/feet exercses
Monday - off
Tuesday - off
Wednesday - off
Thursday - still off
Friday - yep, you guessed it, off
Saturday - 1 hour bike ride, core/feet exercises

Have a great weekend everyone!

My part of the vacation is seeing a minor league baseball game in Hickory, NC. The Hickory Crawdads are affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. I think Beth is excited to see what a Crawdad mascot looks like!
