Long Run

When we woke up this morning it was in the mid 20s with a windchill of 20 even (according to weather.com). It LOOKED so nice and warm outside though with a beautiful, sunny blue sky. I was so set on wearing shorts on our run I just couldn't bear the thought of tights, so even though my general rule is no shorts unless temp > 32 degrees, I put on shorts anyway.

So here's the thing - "look" and "feel" are two different things! I actually wasn't that cold (I still wore 2 long sleeves, a windbreaker, a hat and gloves) but occasionally when the wind would blow I felt frozen. And my legs were pretty red. Needless to say, the hot shower after our run felt veryyyy good. :)

Anyway, O and Roxy joined me on my "long" run this morning. I decided it would be a good idea to run to the park where the high school cross country course is, run the course and then run home. It was a pretty good idea and the timing worked out well, but the actual cross country course wasn't in very good shape. It was frozen and pretty muddy in places and a little scary to be running on. Roxy was a little mudball when we were done which necessitated a bath directly after our return home. She does have white paws and a white belly afterall.

We ran for 70 minutes total and although we ran awfully slow on the cross country course, I felt like we were running a pretty good pace on the roads. I also did my core and feet exercises today.

Other than running, we went to church, came home, ate lunch, read the paper and now I'm fighting off the urge to nap so as to finish my homework before we go back to church tonight for a meeting. I would really like to sack out on the couch right now and watch some basketball with my eyes closed. :) Unfortunately my brackets aren't looking too good all of a sudden. As I predicted, my uneducated guesses are starting to take their toll and I fell from 1st place in our contest to 7th in the span of just 1 day. I fear I might tumble even further after today!

Hi, I have a question for ya seeing as you are a nutritionist. When you run with Roxie longer distances how do you adjust her diet? Do you just give her a little extra or what? I have a 55 pound Aussie and I just kinda of poor a little more dry in when he runs 5 miles or more.
