Botched Time Trial

So I went to the pool this morning before work with the intention of partaking in another 600 yd time trial. Turns out I don't know how to count though. What's up with that?

I started with my normal warmup, 400 yd easy, 200 yd kick easy, 200 yd easy. And then I started my watch and the 600 yds hard. Somewhere along the way I lost count of my laps though because when I finished what I thought was 600 yds, my watch read 8:43 - which certainly couldn't have been right considering my previous two time trials at this distance have been 9:52 and 9:51. It seemed obvious to me that I still needed another 50 yds - but I didn't really figure that out until about 10 seconds later when it was really kind of pointless to hurry up and sprint another 50 yds to make things right. Bugger. It's not a big deal at all but I was really annoyed with myself because assuming it would have taken me a maximum 50 seconds (and possibly less) to swim that extra 50, I would have had a big PR - maybe around a 9:33?! Double bugger!

After my botched time trial I swam an easy 100 yds during which I contemplated swimming another 600 yd time trial. It was a dumb idea though which I realized after about 1 minute. I can always do another time trial in a week or two. I did do 8x50 yd hard (4 of them swimming, 4 of them kickboard, 10 seconds rest) instead of 6 repeats to make up for my lost distance. I cooled down with another 300 yd easy, 200 yd kick easy, 200 yd easy to total up 2500 yds. And then I took me and my scattered brain home. :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
