Early Morning Pool Time

Last night I decided I wanted to swim in the morning instead of after work so that when I came home tonight I would be DONE. I'm glad I did it that way now of course, but let me tell you, it was very hard to get in that cold water this morning! I survived, as I suspected I would.

400 yd easy
200 yd kick easy
200 yd easy

4 sets of 100 yd, 200 yd hard w/15 seconds between intervals and 30 seconds between sets
6x50 yd kick hard

300 yd easy
200 yd kick easy
200 yd easy

I sort of made up the workout myself. The 200s were very hard. I was sucking air for sure. It was 3000 yds total and 1500 yds of hard stuff.

The goggle lines on my face didn't disappear until after I was at work. I tightened them up today because they were leaky and about 45 minutes into the workout I thought my face was going to fall off. I can't seem to get those things down pat - they are either too tight or too loose. I think that the answer is that they are just going to hurt and I need to accept that.

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend! I don't work and that makes HAPPY! :)

Goggles: don't bother tightening the straps that much. The idea is that the gaskets should seal to your face, and the straps should be tight enough to maintain that seal, but not so tight that they make your eyes bug out. If they're leaky, it might be either a bad seal, a poor fit to the shape of your eye sockets, or just that you're not "sealing" them up right. (You need to "burp" them like tupperware.)

My personal experience with goggles from being a swimmer and a coach is that the strap doesn't need to be super tight. Much of the issue is having the right shape of lens for your eye socket and the angle of the strap on your head. The socket marks are a given, as is the cap line. Sorry, no real solution for that.
