Choppy Waters

Well, the good weather is gone. It rained all night last night and turned cold. Now it's snowing. It was very nice while it lasted! :)

I'm glad we were outside yesterday because the snow and wind made it pretty clear that staying inside for a swim was a good option this morning. So I went to the pool at 8:15 am when it opened. There were already several people swimming by the time I got in the water so I had to choose who I wanted to share a lane with. I chose the lane with the person making the most waves. I figure it would be good practice for open water swimming. I'm sure swimming in the ocean or a lake is much worse than a busy swimming pool, but considering I usually have the whole pool to myself, this was a good step up. :)

I did the following 3000 yd workout - which happens to be almost the same one I did the last time I swam:

400 yd easy
200 yd kick easy
200 yd easy

10x100 yd hard w/10 sec rest
10x50 yd kick hard w/10 sec rest

300 yd easy
200 yd kick easy
200 yd easy

I swallowed some water today. The woman I was next too really splashed around a lot. Good practice I hope! During the cooldown laps I decided I would try and see how long I could go without taking a breath. I would try 8 strokes, and then 6 and then 4 all in a row. Now that's some serious oxygen debt! At the very least it kept me occupied. :)

So now I'm icing my feet. All I have to do is take a shower, stretch, pack and O and I are off to Happy Valley! Yeah fun times! :) Have a great weekend everyone.
