Killer Quads Part II

My spinning class didn't help my quad situation at all today. I still had fun anyway. O joined me. We lifted beforehand as has become the Wednesday routine. I was trying to imagine today that I was Lance powering up hills and sprinting to the finish line, etc... I truly have a new respect for cyclists now. Not that spinning in anyway can be compared to true cyclists, but it is quite challenging nonetheless!

In other news, O and I signed Roxy up for obedience school last night. She's not bad per se but she just... okay, she's bad. ;) In our defense I think that her former owners must have let her do a lot of things that we don't want her to do, but either way she needs to learn some manners and we don't know how to teach her. The class starts in Jan and runs for 7 weeks - 1 night a week for an hour. I told her we would take her picture on her first day of school so as to cherish it forever. :)

My paper is coming along alarmingly well. Good thing because it's due to the journal editors January 1st! I have to figure out how to obtain permission from a publisher/editor (?) to use a figure I swiped from a textbook. I was told you can sometimes do this online? We shall see...

First things first - we need groceries!!! :) Good night!

Oh sure....blame Roxy's behavior on the previous owners and not us. Kind of like how we math teachers at the High School blame the Middle School teachers for their lack of math skills. :)

Publishers usually have permissions departments (even if they're departments of one.) We had an entry on the "contact us" page with a particular email address, but I can imagine other publishers (with more titles) might have web forms.

It may be the case that you don't actually need the permission in hand until the paper is accepted for publication... is it?

Hey, can you shoot me an e-mail? I have a question and I lost your e-mail address! Thanks!

Ha ha! Very good point PMJ. It's rather presumptive of me to assume that the paper will actually be published - it needs to be accepted first! In any case, I did clarify that I don't need permission for using the figure at the same time as I submit the article. Hopefully it won't be a big deal either way. Thanks for the tip!
