Turning on the Heat and Blind Surgery

Considering it was in the 80s just a couple days ago, I didn't think turning on the heat in our house today was something we'd be discussing this morning. But when we woke up it was freezing in the house. We waited it out, but when we got back from church it was still only 59 degrees inside. Brrrrr. Despite multiple layers my feet and hands were freezing. So we turned on the heat. And just like that, WINTER has arrived. What happened to fall? :)

This morning O and I ran on the Butler-Freeport Trail and it actually did feel a lot like fall. There were lots of colorful leaves and also lots of fallen leaves making for some serious crunching. It was nice and cool, in the upper 40s. Just felt like cross country season. And I truly enjoyed it. Since I don't run very often now (due to misbehaving feet), I try to savor each run.

We ran for 45 minutes. My feet felt about like they always do - hurt for the first 5-10 minutes, then feel fine with the left one aching every so slightly. We just ran easy and enjoyed the scenery and also enjoyed talking about Penn State's BIG win last night!!! What the heck?!?! Even if Pitt did win yesterday, nothing could overshadow Penn State's victory over #6 Ohio State. Life is too good sometimes. :)

When we got back from the run I did my core exercises and took a HOT shower. And then, after stretching, I broke the blind on the window in one of the upstairs bedrooms. This developed into a full blown blind surgery. O acted as the attending surgeon and I was his assistant. We had several tools, tape, tweezers, and some very intricate hand-work. We didn't have time to finish our surgery before we had to leave for church, but we're now about to head back to the OR and see how our patient (er...blind) is doing! :)

You abandoned your patient in the middle of surgery?! It's freezing here, too. Blondie, Caitlin, and I all froze to (near) death this morning. Mary was there, too, but she was running around, so she stayed warm.

I'm glad you got to run for 45 minutes! And thanks, as always, for keeping us posted on Penn State football -- I get all of my football news from you :-)

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
