Skunk Infiltration!

No, I didn't see Mr. Stink again on my run this morning. I looked for him, but no signs of a little black guy with a long white stripe. I was almost a little disappointed.

Instead today's blog title refers to a local news story I just watched on TV. I kid you not. There was actually a piece on the news (they even sent a field reporter to the scene to check it out!) about a small town east of the city (no where near O and I) that was in a ruffle because they were being infiltrated by skunks! I was glued to the television. Apparently these skunks were traveling in packs (or herds...what exactly is a group of skunks called?) around town and chasing the residents off their porches and into their houses. They interviewed one retired, older gentleman who detailed how he was repeatedly forced into his house by the skunks when all he wanted to was sit on his porch and listen to a baseball game on the radio. Yikes! The story went on to say how city officials were unsure where all the skunks came from, but they had the gaming commission looking into rounding some of the critters up. I wondered what they did with them once they were rounded up? Regardless, the news station gave some advice at the end as to how one could best keep skunk-free...keeping garbage up off the ground, not putting it in plastic bags and then also using either mothballs or cheyenne pepper to ward off the skunks. Cheyenne pepper? What the heck?

Oh well, a little odd, but interesting nonetheless. :) As for my run this morning I did an easy 40 minutes. I felt okay, again just a little sore/tight in the hamstring area. I also did my body weight circuit. This is shaping up to be one of my highest mileage weeks thus far for this training cycle. If all goes as planned for Friday and Saturday I should have about 55-57 miles total.
