A better bike
I'm now at the point where my Achilles is definitely feeling better but I am not sure how far to push it. Right now I'm glad if I can bike more comfortably, and today I felt good until the last 20 minutes or so (at which point I kept going, of course). I wasn't going full force, but close. I decided not to wait for my plane ride and started my new "Gossip Girl" installment--such a guilty pleasure--as well as this week's "ER." As I mentioned, I had a little discomfort toward the end but it was manageable and felt better with stretching/massage afterwards. Speaking of massage, we won a shiatsu pillow at the holiday party we went to on Friday and it is a perfect setup for my calf/Achilles. I just put my leg out on it and plug it in and the little massage balls go to work--it's great. I don't know if it is actually doing anything, but it feels good.
Work was kind of nuts today as it probably will be for the next two-and-a-half weeks left until our office has our annual holiday shutdown (Dec. 24 through the weekend after New Year's.) It's a nice perk to have that time off, but I'm learning that it means everything before that time is frenzied. It's good to be busy, though.
The gym was pretty crazy tonight too. I think it must be still the pre-holiday rush. I didn't have any trouble snagging an elliptical but it was not easy to find the weights I needed after that. But being a girl you can usually ask people nicely for the machine you want and they are generally happy to oblige.
We're both home tonight and both have some work to do--no fun at all!
