An improvement over yesterday
Continuing on the trend of sub-par runs followed by good runs, today was a pretty good day. When I woke up, I saw that the thermometer outside our window was somewhere below 30 degrees, so I changed out of my shorts even though the temperature was supposed to climb to 45 by mid-day. And of course I was a little hot, but once I started sweating and soaking my shirt I cooled way down. I should probably err more on the side of wearing tights to protect my old, arthritic knees...but it's not in my (hot-blooded!) nature.
I did a variation one of my morning loops to add some distance but it actually didn't add as much as I thought. I took a slightly roundabout way back to my house as opposed to the more direct route and ended up right at an hour, which was probably just fine since I did a little more than that yesterday. Except for a few instances where my knee acted up, I tried to be very conscious of my form and ended up feeling pretty good overall.
I met up with some friends from my sorority for brunch today, many of whom I hadn't seen in about 10 years. We had recently gotten back in touch on Facebook! I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a lot of fun and I hope we can manage to get together again soon. When I got back, I did a couple of errands and watched the Jets dominate against an unbeaten team (it's so much more fun when Matt is home) and then biked while catching up on "House."
I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow at the NCAA XC championships. I feel like blocking out 12-1 on my calendar as a "private appointment." I should probably warn my office-mate that she will be watching streaming live coverage too (fingers crossed that it works)!

I hope you got to watch the coverage. You probably saw more than I did! I am thawing out in the press room right now. It wasn't as cold as DIIIs, but my hands got so cold since I was holding a cold metal object and had no gloves on. I was a little surprised that certain people weren't up in the lead pack, but the women's race was not too surprising overall. I want to hear more about what happened to Fernandez, because all I heard was that he turned his ankle at 7k.
