Victory!
Today's accomplishment wasn't crossing the finish line of a race--although I did wish I could have been running in the Army Ten Miler--it was finishing the assembly of our Adirondack bench and chair that have been sitting in pieces in the entry hall for weeks. We just put our minds to it and got it done. Woo-hoo!
I also managed to have a pretty good run today. It was a gorgeous day again and I made up a new route. The first ten minutes were uphill, but it was pretty much rolling after that with no huge hills. When I was stopped at a light soon after starting out, this adorable old man all bundled up in a leather jacket asked me if I was cold. I was actually pretty warm and I told him so! He was very surprised--it was a cute moment.
My iPod was all charged up which made my run more entertaining and I went about an hour at what seemed like a decent (current) pace and with a manageable level of discomfort. My knee seems to get better as my runs go on--I'm not sure if that is because I am settling more into a natural pace, or what.
When I got back, Matt was just getting ready to take his mom to the airport to go back to New York. We ended up doing things around the house (and errands) for the rest of the afternoon. I had a dish to make for Thursday's Yom Kippur break fast (it is now in the freezer) and was glad to cross that off the list. In the late afternoon, Matt played basketball and I caught up on "Dexter" while riding my trainer. It was a nice, relaxing day and now we have some lovely outdoor furniture to sit on for the rest of the fall.
