Seeing the sights

The one or two times I was in Hollywood and in shape enough to run up and down Runyon Canyon, it was awesome. I knew doing that this weekend would be a bad idea, so I ran right past all the people trekking up to the Hills and stayed on more of an even keel, at least geographically. I ran out Sunset Blvd. and then back on Santa Monica Blvd. It's never boring because I pass places I read about in US Weekly (like the Chateau Marmont) and there are always people to see along the way. My knee did okay for a few miles and then bothered me on and off. It was a good effort but I was bummed to be sore later--but that seems to be the tradeoff these days.

Matt's company beach outing was in Santa Monica all afternoon so that's where we were. It was one of those rare cloudy days in Southern CA so it was actually quite chilly on the beach--I was wrapped in towels the whole time. When people started heading out and we were sure the sun wasn't going to come out, we drove to the Third Street promendade in the Santa Monica business district. There are always a bunch of characters around and some pretty neat stores too.

Tonight we went with one of Matt's colleagues who lives here in LA to a sushi place in Venice. It was great--West Coast sushi is totally all it's cracked up to be.

I can barely keep my eyes open. It's been a fun weekend and it's back to reality tomorrow...
