An extra three hours

It's not even seven o'clock yet here on the West Coast, but I definitely feel like it's later. My run this morning seems like it could have occurred days ago. I didn't have too much trouble waking up despite being awakened twice in the middle of the night (sirens and then rain) but it sure was dark out. I chose a neighborhood route that I knew would be well-lit and not too high-traffic. It wasn't raining, but it wasn't chilly like yesterday so I was kind of disappointed. In fact it was quite humid. My knee felt decent, not amazing--I have yet to replicate my Ithaca runs and I'm not sure if that was just because of the soft surface or what. But I was glad to be out there especially knowing that I had a long plane ride ahead of me.

My travel was blissfully uneventful and we even arrived in LA a half-hour early. Matt, on the other hand, was delayed several hours in Boston because of a good old "mechanical problem." I had plenty to do on my own (and he would have been in the office anyway). I rented a car and a GPS and drove to Beverly Hills to get a bite to eat and get a mani/pedi at a place that is often written up in the trashy mags. No star sightings, but a very good experience. After that I went to Fred Segal in West Hollywood. They were having a huge sale and it was fun to poke around but even more fun was the people-watching. Until I realized that I was twice the size of anyone in there. It was like being at a cross-country meet! I tried on one pair of jeans and of course they were tight on my quads and I skedaddled right on out of there.

Tonight we are going to Lucky Strike for some bowling and socializing. The bowling alley (which is in the complex attached to our hotel) was recently featured on "90210" so of course I am expecting it to be more fun than the last time we went! We'll see.

Happy weekend to all!
