End of a nice weekend
I'm back home after my weekend in New York. My flight was inexplicably canceled ("mechanical problem") but luckily I got on the next shuttle with no problem. I am grateful to my parents for driving me to the airport, which takes about as long as the flight from LGA to DCA. And much longer if there is baseball traffic, which apparently they hit on the way home. Grrr.
My morning was similar to yesterday. I went to the gym to run on the treadmill (35 minutes) and ride the spin bike. I was a little worried before the run because my legs were actually a little sore, mostly in the hamstring area. But it went just fine and I did some increasing of speed but very little and not a big bump or anything. Sometimes I can't believe that I took it for granted that my starting treadmill speed was like 7.5 or something. Sigh. Anyway, I felt good and then moved on to the bike. This time the woman next to me decided to ask me how long I had been biking for and let me know that "she gives me a lot of credit." Thanks, I was wondering. She also was drinking a Starbucks drink and spilled some of it on the floor and asked me to wipe it up when I was down there taking care of my sweat puddles. New Yorkers, I swear...and this was in the suburbs!
Soon after I got back from the gym, my mom and I drove down to the Bronx to pick up my grandmother and bring her back to our house for lunch. It was nice to see her without a ton of people around, since generally when Matt and I are in for a weekend it involves all of our New York family members, and that is a lot of people! We sat in the backyard and talked and just hung out and it was a nice way to end the weekend.
Now it's back to the grind, I guess. Matt is in San Francisco until very late Tuesday night so it's just me again. Here's to hoping for a quiet pre-Labor Day work at week, although my gut instinct is telling me otherwise!
