Beachy

My poor dad has an awful case of carpal tunnel syndrome--he is having surgery on Monday--so he can't sleep and walks around the house all night. I kept hearing him during the night so I didn't think I was having a good night's sleep, but I woke up feeling very well-rested. A new New York Sports Club location just opened up about a five-minute drive from my parents' house so that was very convenient. It was a really nice gym, actually. I found a treadmill not near any other people (for sweat flicking purposes) and had a good run (33 minutes) with a few minutes of "speed" (i.e. one speed level up) thrown in. Once I had finished that, I moved to a spin bike and tried to prevent sweat puddles by lining the floor with towels. A guy got on the one other spin bike (next to me) for a few minutes at one point and told me I looked like a "hard worker." All in all I felt like I got in a pretty good workout and I also did most of my hip/glute strengthening things.

It occurred to me today that I hadn't been to the beach all summer, so it was great that I got to go today. I was careful about putting on sunscreen but I still got a little burn on my cheekbones and hairline. My parents and I picked up my sister and her fiance from the train and we had a nice, relaxing day on one of the most pleasant weather days all summer (at least in my opinion). Then we came home, rinsed the sand off, and went out to dinner at a Chinese place we like. It was a great day (although I did miss Matt)!
